Champagne "Socialists"

In response to corruption and tax evading by one of its finance ministers, the supposed socialist members of the French government of Hollande (himself a millionaire) have had to come clean about their personal wealth.

Out of 37 eight are millionaires.

Michele Delaunay, minister for Senior Citizens in the socialist government of French President Francois Hollande, on Monday revealed that her personal wealth amounted to more than 5.4 million euros ($7 million), including almost $20,000 worth of jewelry, along with antique furniture and paintings worth $260,000. She acknowledges that the extent of her wealth "will be hard to understand for the majority of French citizens who are currently experiencing financial hardship." she and her husband had acquired their four homes and significant savings over lifetimes of working and through inheritance.

The average French wage is 1,600 euros ($2,100) a month and unemployment has risen steadily under Hollande to hit 10.6 percent, close to an all-time record

Minister of Foreign Affairs Laurent Fabius possesses an even greater fortune: six million euros ($7.8 million), including an apartment in Paris valued at $3.5 million.

Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault is worth around 1.6 million euros.

Industry Minister Arnaud Montebourg, came in just short of millionaire status with 920,000 euros

Labour Minister Michel Sapin and Health Minister Marisol Touraine listed 2 million and 1.4 million respectively.
