The rich get richer

Income inequality in Canada is growing faster than in just about every other similar country in the world, with even the U.S. lagging behind. While Canada has enjoyed relatively robust economic growth in recent years, the study found that virtually all the wealth has been accrued among the wealthiest 20 per cent of the population. In fact, roughly one third of all the new wealth created in Canada over the past two decades has gone to the top 1 per cent of the population

Overall, income inequality has increased for 71 per cent of the world's population. Of total world income, 42 per cent goes to those who make up the richest 10 per cent of the world’s population, while 1 per cent goes to those who comprise the poorest 10 per cent.

It seems that, far from wealth trickling downwards, it is gushing upwards.
